Mony Difficulty and Debt—Can the Quran Help?

Yes. The following some Quran principles can aid us with money matters and debt:

  1. Let's believe in God.

“If the people of the towns had been faithful and God wary, we would have opened to them blessings from the heaven and the earth, but they denied; so, we seized them because of what they used to earn.” (Anfal 7:96)[1] Because one of the purposes of money is to inject peace into hearts, true peace is achieved by remembering God. Therefore, the first step to obtaining true peace is faith and belief in God Almighty.

  1. Not consulting the ignorant in financial matters

The Quran says about this:
“Give not unto the foolish (what is in) your (keeping of their) wealth, which Allah hath given you to maintain; but feed and clothe them from it, and speak kindly unto them.” (Nesa 4:5)[2]
Therefore, the Holy Quran considers wealth as the factor of reliability and upliftment of the individual and society. In this way, ignorant people shouldn't take over the wealth of the society. Because the ignorant themselves waste their wealth in useless ways.

  1. effort and plan your spending.

“Nothing belongs to man except what he strives for.” (Najm 53:39)[3] And try and be patient to achieve it. Don’t rush to buy something just because it’s on sale. Make a financial plan —a budget —and stick to it.

  1. Being satisfied with the amount of income

Contentment is a guard to not keeping up with the Joneses or jealousy.

Prophet Muhammad Saied:” Anyone who is moderate should not be needy.”[4]
