The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

10:25 - 2021/11/28

October 29 marks the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. It has been more than 30 years that the UN announced October 29 as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, but during all these years the UN has been silent regarding the oppression imposed on the Palestinian people by the Israeli regime.

International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

October 29 has been announce by the UN as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. The general assembly of the UN in 1977 announced October 29 as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People and asked all member nations to observe this day. Though as it appears the UN did so to show that the world pays attention to the problems faced by the Palestinian Nation, it was the UN itself proposed and adopted the Resolution 181, which is known as the partition resolution. Thus, the first seeds of dissent were sowed by the UN itself when it proposed a resolution that unjustly divided Palestine and neglected the right of many Palestinians to their ancestral houses and gifted them to the Zionists.

Now, it has been more than 30 years from announcement of October 29 as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, but the UN has been silent about the oppression imposed on the Palestinian people by the Israeli regime and even sometimes by taking a very passive stance, has paved the way for more oppression on the Palestinians. The election of Israeli representatives in UN committees or accepting Hebrew names for some cities or historical and religious places are clear examples of coordinating of the UN with the Israeli regime. Being so cooperative with the Israeli regime, the UN asks its offices in different countries to hold a ceremony as a sign of solidarity with the Palestinian people!
