On the battlefield, every commander's mind is occupied with military concerns. The only thing that matters in this situation is to gain victory or help forces survive. The least attention is paid to moral principles. However, a pious man's intention is to please God even in these conditions.
General Soleimani was an exemplary faithful man of God whose religious and pious attitudes influenced many people's life. Friends and foes have talked positively about his respected manner. Even in the battlefield, he stuck to his moral standards. The story of his letter to a Sunni family in Syria has become a word of mouth. He wrote a letter to a Syrian family whose house was used for operations against ISIS. The General requested them to forgive him and his soldiers because they had to use the house without the owner's permission.Therefore, the General left them his own phone number to compensate any possible damage.
Zaynab Soleimani, General Soleimani's daughter says, "When the Order of Zolfaghar, (the highest honor in Iran military) was granted to my father by the supreme leader, I went to him and congratulated him. He said in response, 'These are all worldly awards, pray for me that one day I would be granted my award in the hereafter by Allah.'" General Ghasim Soleimani with his heart and soul believed in this verse of the Holy Quran,
So let those fight in the cause of Allah who sell the life of this world for the Hereafter. And he who fights in the cause of Allah and is killed or achieves victory - We will bestow upon him a great reward. (4:74)
He learned this lesson from his leader, Imam Khamenei, who gave a thought-provoking speech while granting the Order of Zulfaghar to General. He said, "Your struggle in the path of God is not comparable to these things."
