Imam Hussain (AS) and the events of the 10th day of Muharram 61 A.H

On the 10th day of Muharram in the year 61 A.H, Imam Hussain (AS) led the morning prayer to the congregation with his companions and then spoke to them as follows: "God has commanded me and you to be martyred." May patience be your profession." On the Day of Ashura, Imam Hussain (AS) appointed Zuhair bin Qain as the right commander of the army and Habib bin Mazaher as the left army commander and handed over the flag to their brother Abbas (AS).

Although the enemy army was approaching the tents, Imam Hussain did not order to shoot. Because he said: I don't like to start a war with this group.

Omar bin Saad put an arrow on his bow and threw it at the companions of Imam (AS) and said: Be a witness that I was the first one to shoot an arrow at Hussain's army. Then the soldiers of Umar bin Saad put an arrow on the bow and shot the companions of Imam Hussain (AS) from all sides. Imam (AS) said: "My friends, get up and hurry to martyrdom." May God have mercy on you."

In the first attack, more than 40 people were martyred, and then the remaining comrades, each in turn, rushed to the battlefield alone and were martyred.

During the noon prayer, Imam Hussain (AS) stopped to pray without paying attention to the enemy's arrows, Amr bin Qaraza together with some of the Imam's companions stood in front of the Imam and shielded their chests until the prayer of Imam Hussain (AS) was finished and then it was their turn. It reached the Bani Hashem family and they were also martyred. Imam Hussain (AS) who was left alone, looked at the pure bodies of the martyrs and called them. Imam Hussain (AS) for the last one went to the camps. Then he faced the enemy and fought bravely.

The enemy had surrounded them from all sides, suddenly a three-branched arrow hit his blessed heart, and while there were hundreds of arrows and spears on his body, he fell on the ground, and his blessed soul joined the Supreme Kingdom, and at that time, women’s and children’s’ crying rose up.[1]
