Forgetting the great event of Ghadir

Ghadir: The incident of Ghadir Khumm was not a small and simple incident to be forgotten, especially in a very short period of time, the distance between Ghadir and the time of the death of the Holy Prophet. (Peace be upon him)

Ghadir

this incident took place in a situation where at that time in the history of Islam, it was unique in terms of a large number of people present in that scene, and the history of Islam had never seen anything like it until that day.

Question:

Why did the people of early Islam, who were so diligent in collecting the Qur'an, forget the incident of Ghadir and commit this great mistake?

Response:

In this case, it should be noted that historical events and mistakes are not always the result of negligence and forgetfulness, but many big and small mistakes are made out of certain awareness and intentions which Ghadir Khum's case is of this type. The explanation is that the incident of Ghadir Khum[1] was not a small and simple incident to be forgotten.

In a very short period of time, which lasted from Ghadir until the death of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and a short time, this incident took place in a situation where at that time in the history of Islam, due to the large population It was unique in that scene, and the history of Islam had never seen anything like it.

One of the important factors that made this historical event become an eternal and unforgettable memory and remain in the minds forever, is the glorious presence of the Companions in the appointment ceremony of Amir al-Mu'minin Ali (as) by the Prophet. (peace be upon him)

According to Shiite and Sunni narratives and historical sources, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). On her return from the farewell pilgrimage in the tenth year of AH on the eighteenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah in the presence of a large crowd of pilgrims on her return from the farewell pilgrimage in the tenth year of (AH) on the eighteenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah in the presence of a large crowd of pilgrims- The number of them has been quoted up to 120,000- According to the divine order, he raised the issue of Ali (AS) succession in Ghadir Khumm's historical speech- and introduced Ali (as) as the leader of the Muslims after him and obliged the attendees to convey the message to the absentees which After the speech of the Imam, a large crowd of companions in groups declared allegiance to Amir-Almomenin (PBUH) by expressing congratulations and greetings. And some of the great companions, including Abu Bakr and Umar, personally pledged allegiance to Ali (PBUH)[2] that more than 60 Sunni scholars have mentioned the Subject of allegiance of Abu Bakr and Uthman in their books.[3]

This historical event was widely reflected among the Muslims of that time in all cities and neighborhoods, and its wave in all areas informed the people about the issue of the succession of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)

And considering the general and unprecedented presence of Muslims from far and near in the Hajj ceremony of that year, at least about one hundred and twenty thousand people have covered the report of this important event and they have brought its story with them to different regions.

Among these are the names of many companions who have been quoted in this case from them and it is recorded in books The late Allamah Amini (RA) has identified and introduced each of the companions of Ahl al-Bayt only from the books of the Sunni scholars, one hundred and ten of whom have narrated it separately as witnesses of the case[4]

However, history has not been able to record and insert many other participants in Ghadir Khum, or if it has been inserted, there have been political groups working to wipe such works.

Especially considering that from the time of the caliphs, for political reasons, a great effort to eradicate such works began and continued for a long time (99 AH during the time of Umar ibn Abdul Aziz).[5]

The second factor that has made the Ghadir incident immortal is the revelation of verses 3 and 67 of Surah Ma'idah in this regard, in which more than 46 prominent Sunni commentators and scholars admit that these verses are about the appointment of Ali (as) by the Prophet. - peace be upon him - was revealed during Ghadir.

The inclusion of this historical event in the Holy Quran as a permanent document for Muslims has caused Muslims to always remember the memory of Ghadir in their minds and keep it alive and never forget.

For this reason, the 18th day of Dhu al-Hijjah al-Haram, which is also the day of the revelation of these verses, is considered the day of Muslim's Eid.[6]

Although the Shiites in particular consider that day as the greatest Islamic holiday and have a special affiliation with it, it is not dedicated to the Shiites.

Summary: It was clear from what was pointed out that the flow of Ghadir-Khum was not something that the early Muslims of Islam had completely forgotten and as a result of ignorance and unawareness of the subject, have made mistakes and caused deviations.

but this issue has been the most important reflection among Muslims, especially the inhabitants of Medina, due to the repeated orders of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in this regard, especially in the great ceremony and conference of Ghadir Khumm and also the revelation of Quranic verses in this regard as a sensitive issue.
