Amir al-Mu'minin Ali Ibn Abi Talib (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and Ali Muhammad and the family of Muhammad) said
How much you fast that you have no benefit from your fasting except thirst, and how much you stay awake all night that you get nothing but suffering and sleeplessness from your staying up all night, how good is the sleep of the wise and their iftar.
