Characteristics of competent teachers in Islamic Narratives

-From the point of view of the traditions of the Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them, a lot of value has been placed on the position of a teacher; Because he nurtures people's souls and leads them to growth and advancement.

Characteristics of competent teachers in Islamic Narratives

  1. Purity

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said:

A teacher does not teach for a salary, [but teaches for the sake of God and with pure intentions], and whenever they give him a gift, he accepts it."[1]

  1. Justice among students

The Holy Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, introduced two groups of people who are farthest from God, and in explaining the second group, he said:

1-A teacher of children who do not treat them fairly2- and does not consider God in the case of orphans.[2]

  1. Humility

Ali peace be upon him said:

Every teacher who is humble towards his students and considers himself small and inferior to the scientists will become a gentleman with his knowledge.[3]

The Messenger of God's warning to inactive teachers

The Messenger of God, may God's prayers and peace be upon him, said: "On the Day of Resurrection, scholars [and teachers] will bring evil and throw them into the fire of hell." One of them [due to the severity of punishment] turns around in the fire... Those who learned knowledge from him and were saved, say to him: Woe to you! We learned the right path from you and were guided. why are you like this He replies: I objected to what I was teaching you and forbidding you from.

رسولُ اللّه ِ صلى الله عليه و آله : أبعدُ الخَلقِ مِن اللّه ِ رَجُلانِ : رَجُلٌ يُجالِسُ الاُمَراءَ فما قالوا مِن جَورٍ صَدَّقَهُم علَيهِ ، و مُعَلِّمُ الصِّبيانِ لا يُواسي بَينَهُم و لا يُراقِبُ اللّه َ في اليَتيمِ
