13:12 - 2023/11/09

- Negligence and ignorance of God, the Day of Judgment and the destiny of man causes irreparable damage, which is meaningfully mentioned in the Qur'an and the statements of the Infallible Imams (a.s) which some of them are mentioned below.

The Results and Effects of Negligence in the Quran and the words of the Infallible Imams

Effects of Negligence

Undoubtedly, the source of every evil that affects man from the outside is an internal factor of which negligence is one of the most important one. If there is belief and attention to God within us, no harm will come to us. Otherwise, the sky and the earth will be hard on us, Time and space will press us and as a result, our world and the hereafter will be ruined.

The effects of Negligence in the statements of the Qur'an and the innocents are as follows:

1. Hard and difficult life:

Quran:"And whoever turns away from my remembrance will have a narrow and difficult life".[1]

2. Cruelty of the heart:

Imam Baqir (A.S.): "Avoid negligence, which is the cause of hard-heartedness."[2]

3. companionship with Satan:

Qur'an: "We assign a devil to be the companion of him who turns a blind eye to the remembrance of the All-beneficent. "[3]

4. Neglect and distance from God:

Imam Ali (AS): "My God! If negligence has put me to sleep and deprived me of the ability to meet you, knowing the generosity of your blessings has awakened me from this sleep of negligence."[4]

5. Death of heart and soul:

Imam Ali (AS): "Whoever is overcome by neglect, his heart dies."[5] In another hadith, he said: "Between you and preaching and admonition, there is a veil of neglect and pride."[6]

6. The destruction of righteous deeds:

Imam Ali (AS): " Beware of being negligent or deceived by the deadline, because negligence spoils deeds"[7]

There is also a possibility in the interpretation of this hadith that the meaning is the corruption of the past actions of a person due to future negligence, because negligence causes sin and sin causes spoiling of actions.

7. Man's neglect and destruction:

Qur'an: " Therefore We took retribution from them; therefore We drowned them in the sea: because they denied Our revelations and were heedless of them."[8]

Imam Ali (AS) also said: "Whoever neglects for a long time, his destruction will come quickly."[9]

8. Deterioration of mental peace:

Qur'an: "With the remembrance of God, hearts find peace"[10].

The opposite meaning of this honorable verse is that anyone who avoids the remembrance of God will suffer from mental anxiety and depression and will lose his mental peace and stability in life.

9. The punishment of hell in the hereafter:

Qur'an: "whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will let him into an escalating punishment."[11]

Conclusion:

According to the above verses and narrations, it can be concluded that: the result of neglecting God and the philosophy of creation, "Where did we come from? Why did we come? And where will we go?", is nothing but suffering and torment of worldly and hereafter problems. Therefore, a wise person should always remember God and the philosophy of his creation, not be negligent and lazy and strive for the happiness of this world and the hereafter.
