On the occasion of the International Day of Mosques, we are going to have a brief glance at the importance of it, mentioning its significant social, political, educational and cultural role in the history of Islam.

The International Day of Mosques

On the occasion of the International Day of Mosques, the Iranian calendar month of Mordad 30, it is necessary to have a brief glance at the important role of Mosques in bringing unity among the Muslim Ummah (nation) all over the world. There is no doubt, that Mosque is a pivot of unity and it has been the most significant place for all religious, social, cultural and political arenas since the early years of Islam. Throughout the Islamic history Mosques have given the unity and power to Islam and the followers of this life-giving school being as the symbol of identity of the Islamic Ummah. The Mosques were not only the place in which Muslims have solved their social, legal and political problems or challenges, but it, also, has provided Muslims with the spiritual teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (P) where thousands of Muslim scholars have been trained and studied. Therefore, Mosques are not merely a place for saying the prayers; because, as it was mentioned Mosques are and have been the most essential religious, political, social and scientific centers for the Muslims all over the Islamic history. That is to say that it is an opportunity to appreciate the position and grandeur of mosques paying attention to the spiritual and physical development of mosques.
