Imam Hussain in the viewpoint of Chris Hewer

For nearly thirty years, he has been doing this kind of work. he used to have a specialist center in Birmingham where is called "the center for the study of Islam and Christian Muslim relations".

A number of years, Chris Hewer studied about Islam with different Muslim professors on which gave him a background and a basis on which to understand more and part of that understanding was to work in a Shia academy. he used to teach a few Basic courses. during that process the students told him about the importance of Imam Hussein and the importance of the story of Karbala in their life. Therefore, he began to start reading and the exploring this more and thinking of ways in which he could explain it to others. He has written about the importance of Karbala for all humankind.

Nowadays, people who are just listening to the news, need to understand something about Imam Hussain's background. When they hear the tragic event of Karbala, not only, do they need to hear it in a way that explains the event, but they need to know the spiritual meaning and the impact that has had on people through the centuries.

In his viewpoint, the greatest impact of the story is Imam Hussein's willingness the struggle against injustice and tyranny. he never does give into it. he within the knowledge of certain death for himself and his companions, he perseveres in faith in truth and he submits to God.

Chris Hewer says: "When we talk about understanding of religious tradition, it is understanding more than just what happens in the mind. Understanding is also something that happens in the heart. One of the important messages that we have to share is the great spiritual traditions are the great spiritual figures that do not belong to us. at large, they belong to humanity. Therefore, the religious communities have to learn ways of talking about these people, the events of their lives, in ways that actually communicate that essence the importance of that message to people who are not Muslims.
