First of all, you have to know yourself well. For example, consider the following factors:
Relationships
How do you behave with your family members? Do you often lose your self-control with them, perhaps using sarcastic language to make a point? What would they say about you in that regard? The type of you relation with family members indicates how you will treat a spouse.
Quran refers to this point: “Dispute with them in a manner that is best” [1](sourah,16:125).
Demeanor
Are you positive or pessimistic? Are you reasonable, or do you always insist on doing things in your way? Can you keep calm when under pressure? Are you patient? Patience and communication with God are two key factors to solve this problem. As mentioned in the holy Quran:
“And take resort to patience and prayer”[2](Sourah, 2: 45)
Finances
How well do you handle your own finances? Are you often in debt? Can you hold down a job? If not, why not? Is it because of the job? The employer? Man looks for peace in the common life, and the only way to peace is communication with God and a deep connection with this divine source, which contains orders and laws for the happiness and guidance of mankind.
—those who have faith and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah.’ Behold! The hearts find rest in Allah’s remembrance![4] (Surah, 13: 28)
