The entrance of the Captives of Ahl Al-Bait (a.s) to Levant City:

The arrival of the Ahl al-Bayt to the Levant city, was one of the most painful disasters of the Ashura incident, which was ordered by Yazid ibn Muawiyah to Ibn al-Ziad and during the captivity of the Ahl al-Bayt especially Imam Sajjad and Lady Zainab (a.s).

In describing the arrival of the captives of Ahl al-Bayt to the Levant, one of the companions of the Prophet Mohammad (s) named Sahl ibn Sa'd Sa'eedi writes: ""On the way to Jerusalem I arrived to the city of Levant. I saw a city full of trees with lots of streams. Its doors and walls were closed with beautiful curtains, and people were happy, and I saw the women playing drums, I said to myself, the people of the city have a feast that we don't know? I asked a group of people: Do you have a feast that we do not know? They replied: you look stranger, yes, I am Sa'ad Sa'eedi, the companion of the prophet (s), I know some of his narrations. They said, "O Sa'ad, do you not wonder why does not blood fall from the sky and the earth does not swallow its inhabitants?" I said: What is the matter? They said: Hussein's head is brought from Iraq as a gift. I said: Its strange! They are bringing the head of Hussain and people are happy and rejoicing?

We had not yet finished our conversations, when I saw the banners arriving one after the other. So I saw a man with a head on a spear whose face was very similar to the face of the Messenger of Allah, and then I saw a girl riding a naked camel. I went to her and said, "who are you my daughter? And I said, I am Sa'ad: I am one of your grandfather's companions. She replied: I am Sakinah, daughter of Hussain. I said: Is there anything I can do? She said: "If it is possible for you, tell them to remove the heads from around us, so that people may look at them, and their eyes might be less focused on the women of the Ahlul-Bayt"

Sa'd went to the man who was bearing the head and said: "Is it permissible for you to take forty denarii of red gold and accept my request?" He said, "What do you want?" I said, "Take this money and take this head forward and away from these women." The man accepted and took the head away from the women of the Ahl Al-Bait (s).[1]

The story of entrance of Ahl Al-Bait to Levant city is much painful that when Imam Sajjad (a.s) was asked, "what is the most painful of your memories? He replied three times: "The Levant, the Levant, the Levant"[2]
