Drug prohibition in Islam

There are many reasons for drug prohibition of the drugs in Islam. In this article some of them will be mentioned very briefly. Firstly, it is clear for everyone that the drugs are harmful for the body, and whatever is harmful to the body is forbidden, as the holy Qur'an said: "Do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction."[3] The drug is harmful to the body, so it is forbidden. Secondly, Imam Reza (AS) said: Everything ranging from food and clothing and something else in which corruption is forbidden. [4] The drug, which is harmful for body, contains corruption, so it is forbidden in Islam.

What is a drug?

Drug is a chemical substance used in the treatment, cure, prevention, or diagnosis of disease or used to enhance physical or mental health. [1] According to this definition drug is not bad originally, but the main problem is the abuse of the drug. This article is going to briefly discuss the misusage of the drug. 

How many kinds of drugs are there?

There are different varieties of drugs Some of which will be mentioned in this article: 1) Hallucinogen that alters what we hear and see like cannabis, LSD; 2) Painkiller that blocks nerve impulses [P1] such as aspirin and heroin; 3) Performance enhancer that improves muscle development like anabolic steroids; 4) Stimulant that increases brain activity such as nicotine, caffeine, ecstasy. [2] All kinds of these drugs are very harmful for our bodies.
