Yazid made a person named Omar bin Saeed the Amir of Hajj and entrusted him with the responsibility of managing the Hajj ceremony with a huge army. He had ordered him to secretly arrest Imam Hussain (peace be upon him). If he could not arrest the imam, he would kill him by trickery. He also sent 30 Umayyad spies separately with the pilgrims and ordered them to kill Hussain (peace be upon him) who was coming to Mecca.
