Eid al-Fitr

Eid al-Fitr is indeed a unique festival which is purely spiritual. It is the day when the Muslims thank and appreciate Allah for giving them the will, the strength and the endurance to observe fast and obey His commandment during the holy month of Ramadan.

Zakat al-Fitr is the charity to be given to the poor at the end of the Ramadan fast. Every Muslim is required to pay Zakat al-Fitr at the conclusion of fasting in the month of Ramadan.

Eid in Arabic means “feast, festival, holiday.” Eid

 امام علی علیه السلام:إِنَّمَا هُوَ عِيدٌ

اللَّهُ أَکْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَکْبَرُ لا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ وَ اللَّهُ أَکْبَرُ اللهُ أَکْبَ

Summary:
Fitr means opening and since in this day (Shawwal 1) Muslims break one month of fasting is called Eid al-Fitr. Eid al-Fitr is the first day of Shawwal; thus, by seeing the new moon of the month of Shawwal on the 29th of Ramadan or after 30 days of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr is confirmed.
