extravagance

“Eat and drink, but do not waste.” This is a universal advice given by Islam some 14 centuries ago but it is true for all times and all places.

Signs of arrogance in the holy Quran:

 قال الکاظم علیه السلام:مَنْ‏ بَذَّرَ وَ أَسْرَفَ‏ زَالَتْ عَنْهُ النِّع

كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا وَلَا تُسْرِفُوا إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُسْرِفِينَ، اعراف:31

قال علی علیه السلامَ: اَقْبَحُ‏ الْبَذْلِ‏ السَّرَفُ‏، غرر الحکم، حدیث:8122

وَلَا تُسْرِفُوا إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُسْرِفِينَ؛ انعام:141
