Treatment of Negligence in Quran and Hadith

Treatment of negligence in Quran and Hadith

Treatment of neglect:

1. Persistence in remembering God:

Holy Qur'an: “O you who believe, remember Allah a lot”.[1]

Imam Ali (a.s.) said: “With continuous remembrance of God, the effects of neglect are removed”. [2]

2. Practicing thinking:

The Holy Quran: “Those who remember Allah when standing, sitting, and on their sides, and contemplate upon the creation of the heavens and the earth (saying:) 'Lord, You have not created these in falsehood. Exaltations to You! Guard us against the punishment of the Fire”.[3]

3. Prayer with attention and on time:

Imam Baqir (AS) said: If “every person with faith performs obligatory prayers on time and correctly, he will not be one of the negligent.”[4]

4. Leaving  the ignorants:

Imam Ali (a.s.) said: “Avoid places of "negligence" and violence, and places where you have helper to obey God”.[5]

5. Remembrance of blessings and blessing:

The Holy Qur'an: If they had followed the Path We would give to them abundant water to drink, and tested them with it. And whosoever turns away from his Lord's Remembrance, He will hurl him into a stern punishment”. [6]

6. Meditation and taking care of actions:

In verses 16 and 17 of Surah Jinn, after reminding some people of many blessings, God says that these blessings (be they material or spiritual) are for testing them. A believer must constantly be careful of his actions in the correct use of these blessings. Use it in a way that pleases God. Otherwise, he will definitely be among the negligent and losers.
