Question: Some mujtahids are of the opinion that the People of the Book are najis, while some others consider them pure. What is your opinion?
Answer:The People of the Book, the Jews, the Christians and the Zoroastrians, are ritually pure(tahir) as long as you do not know that they have become ritually impure(najis) by coming into contact with an impure object.[1] It is not established that the People of the Book are najis themselves; rather, we consider them as pure by themselves.[2]
