-It should be said that although the Halloween celebration was originally founded for some good traditions, over time, all kinds of superstitions have been added to it, which has no intellectual, moral, or religious place. The religion of Islam explicitly rejects these useless celebrations and He considers superstitions to be in conflict with reason.

The viewpoint of the Holy Quran about the roots of Halloween

The viewpoint of the Holy Quran about the roots of Halloween

The Qur'an does not mention Halloween. However, an examination of the ancient origins of Halloween and its modern customs shows that this celebration is based on false beliefs about the dead and evil The Qur'an teaches us Magic is an extraordinary practice that leaves traces of itself in the existence of humans, and sometimes it is a kind of eye contact and trickery, and sometimes it has only a mental, imaginary and suggestive aspect, and sometimes it uses unknown physical and chemical properties. Some of the objects and elements and sometimes it is done by getting help from demons. Of course, sorcerers are deviant and worldly people whose work is based on distorting the facts. Therefore, it should be said that dawn is divided into two parts in the Qur'an:

A). The meaning of it is seduction, trickery, magic, and sorcery

The meaning of it is seduction, trickery, magic, and sorcery, and it has no truth as we read:

 He said, ‘No, you throw first.’ Thereupon, behold, their ropes and staffs appeared to him by their magic to wriggle swiftly"[1]

In another verse of the Quran god said;

He said, ‘Throw [yours].’ So when they threw, they bewitched the people’s eyes and overawed them, producing tremendous magic.”[2]

It is clear from these verses that witchcraft does not have any truth that can take possession of objects and leave an impression, but it is the trickery of a magician.

B).some of magics  are correct

Some of the verses of the Quran are used, that.. some types of witchcraft are really effective, such as the verse which says that;

they practiced witchcraft that separates a man from his wife.”[3]

From the point of view of Islam, practicing, teaching, and learning witchcraft is prohibited and haram, and also one of the major sins.

1. History and traditions of Halloween

"Encyclopedia of the Book of the World" explains that the origin of the Halloween celebration goes back to the time when "the ancient Celts celebrated Samhain more than 2000 years ago. They believed that during Samhain the dead are among the living, and they can communicate with the dead.

According to the Qur'an, the connection between dead people and living people is accepted, but this does not mean that dead people can easily return to the world at any time because each of the dead cannot easily return to the world. It depends on the specific circumstances. It must be said that no communication will take place unless it is with God's permission. Also, whoever has a stronger faith than other people may be able to communicate with his relatives with God's permission and the provision of spiritual conditions.

  2) Halloween costumes, candy, and trick-or-treat:

 According to one source, some of the Celts wore ghoulish costumes so that wandering spirits “would mistake them for one of their own” and leave them alone. Others offered sweets to the spirits to appease them. In medieval Europe, the Catholic clergy adopted local pagan customs and had their church members go from house to house wearing costumes and requesting small gifts by doing something similar to spooning and Halloween costumes, candy, and trick-or-treat.

Islam stands in front of superstitions, drawing lots, making connections between unfounded cases, making false references to people, and slandering others, and does not allow such abuse of religion.

God has also raised questions in the Qur'an, when he wants to raise a matter, he mostly raises the question

Has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Moses,[4]and of Abraham, who fulfilled [his summons]:"[5];

O, people! Do you want me to give you the news that is contained in three books and all three prophets have put their seal of approval on it?

But the three things that the Quran tells us are:

that nothing belongs to man except what he strives for,.[6]

that no bearer shall bear another’s a burden,[7]

and that he will soon be shown his endeavor,[8]

3.)Harassment of people

During the Halloween celebration in different countries, every year many people get sick, and some die for various reasons, which shows that this ceremony is criminal.

Below are some statistics on the dangers of Halloween

-Halloween stampede in Seoul leaves at least 149 dead in 2022[9]

-In England 2022:On average, road traffic incidents increase by 75 percent compared to the rest of the month, with 49 child pedestrians involved in road traffic accidents on Halloween. This is nearly twice the average number for the two weeks before and after Halloween (17th October to 14th November)[10].

-there is an average of 295 accidents involving adults on this day every year, which is 12 percent higher than the annual average.[11]

And thousands of dangers can be seen in the celebration of Halloween in different countries that it is beyond the scope to mention them all in this article. All kinds of terrible fears can be seen on Halloween, which may seem childish on the surface, but in fact, this behavior causes mental and heart diseases in many people.

The Quran says against such behavior:

…….., and do not cast yourselves with your own hands into destruction[12]...

Other superstitions, such as dancing, scaring, drinking wine, etc., have arisen on Halloween, which reason and religion are against.

conclusion :

It should be said that although the Halloween celebration was originally founded for some good traditions, over time, all kinds of superstitions have been added to it, which has no intellectual, moral, or religious place. The religion of Islam explicitly rejects these useless celebrations and He considers superstitions to be in conflict with reason.
