What are the main beliefs of Shia?
Shiite beliefs are based on the Quran and the message of the prophet Muhammad [PBH] attested in hadith recorded by the Shia scholars or narrators. The Shia Muslims believe that just as a prophet is appointed by God alone, only God has the prerogative to appoint the successor to his prophet. They believe God chose Ali (as) to be Muhammad's infallible successor and the first caliph of Islam. The Shias believe that Muhammad designated Ali (as) his successorby according to God’s command.
