Imam Baqir (Peace be upon him) - 11

15:47 - 2024/01/18

The Prophet (PBUH) said to one of his Companions named Jabir Ibn Abdullah Ansari: "You will see a man from my family whose name is my name, his behavior and actions are my behavior and actions, and he penetrates knowledge to its depths."

...Then, referring to the kinship of Bani Hashem and Bani Umayyad, he wanted to consider these two families as equal in terms of dignity. Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) emphasized against his statement that, of course, other families lack the spiritual perfections and virtues found in Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).

Hisham mocked the idea and belief of the Shiites about the Commander of the Faithful Ali (peace be upon him) and said:

"Ali claimed the knowledge of the unseen, while God did not make anyone aware of it."

In response, Imam pointed to the dissemination of the teachings of the Qur'an and the knowledge of the Prophet by the Amir of the Believers Ali (a.s). Finally, Hisham ordered their release and their return to Medina. In the meantime, an dialogue was held between the Christian monks and priests living in Syria and Imam Baqir (peace be upon him), which the hadith sources have narrated in detail. It was after that that Hisham ordered the Imam (a.s.) to leave Damascus as soon as possible so that the people of Syria would not be influenced by the Imam's knowledge.

He immediately sent a letter to the governor of Medina and wrote the following about Imam Baqir and Sadiq (peace be upon them):

"These two sons of Abu Tarab, who set out from Syria with the intention of Medina, are sorcerers and falsely declare Islam.  Because they have been influenced by Christian monks and have become Christians. I refrained from harming them because of my kinship with them. When they came to Madinah, tell the people:

“I absolve myself from those who make deals with them or shake hands and greet them. Because they have deviated from Islam.

People were affected by this decree and insulted the two Imams. But the Imam advised them and warned them of divine punishment until finally they stopped insulting them".[1]

This narration indicates Hisham's trick to distort the face of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), as well as the insistence of the Shia Imams in explaining the exalted position of the Ahl al-Bayt over others.[2]
