An Important lesson from Imam Al-Baqir (AS)

On the occasion of the martyrdom of the fifth infallible Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (A), the seventh day of the Month of Dhu al-Hijja, it is better to have a glance at some of his teachings and traditions. His education and knowledge was so much that he was titled as the one who reaches the depth of knowledge (Baqir al-Uloom) and left thousands of educational contexts and narrations as his legacy. One of the important lessons that must be taken from the fifth Imam (A) is working hard to earn livelihood. It is reported that Muhammad ibn Mankader once saw the Imam in the vicinity of Medina, while he was going out for agricultural affairs and sweat was dripping from the Imam's body. He asked the Imam that ‘O Son of the Holy Prophet (SAW)! Is it not insulting that at such a time you are busy in seeking the world? If your death arrives right now what would you do? Imam replied: ‘If my death arrives right at this time, I would die in the state of worshipping; because I am working so that I do not stretch my hand from begging near you or other people. [1]
