The Philosophy of History as per the Qur'an

The Qur’an does not narrate history for joy or temporizing, rather it narrates history in a special way using specific method to teach human beings a very important lesson.

It is clear that the historical narrations constitute a considerable part of the Qur’an in both Makkan and Madinan verses. The Qur’an’s accounts of different past events have unique characteristics which distinguish them from the other historical accounts or sources. For instance, the Qur’an chooses the most significant parts of the historical events. It does not account the events from the beginning to the end; because, the Qur’an never wants solely to narrate the story. Also, we see that how the historians dispute over the accuracy of the historical narrations, while the Qur’an’s accounts are totally true. The Qur’an calls itself “the truth” “confirming what came before it”. [1] Indeed, the Qur’an uses this method of narration to teach human beings a very important lesson. [2] To know Allah (SWT) and to know that He is behind all circumstances, events, incidences, situations etc. In other words, the Qur’an wants to direct and help man to see God behind these events, and then to believe in Him.
