How can we not fear death?

09:27 - 2015/11/18

Death has always been imagined to be a great frightening monster and just thinking about it takes away the sweetness of life. But what is the reason that some people or let's say most people are afraid of death?

Death has always been imagined to be a great frightening monster and just thinking about it takes away the sweetness of life. But what is the reason that some people or most people are afraid of death?
Some people fear death because they believe that death is the end of everything and in this case, they have a right to fear death because they think that death will take everything away from them even their life and this is really frightening because human beings always flee from non-existence.
Another thing is that there are some people who have faith in the hereafter but in spite of this, they have great fear of death and it is because the file of their deeds is so black that they are afraid of the punishment after death.

But a true Muslim is someone who has no fear of death because first he believes in the hereafter and considers death to be the beginning of a new and eternal life. And second he is aware of the fact that on the day of judgment he is going to be held accountable for his deeds and that makes him feel responsible for his actions as Imam al-Sadiq says:

A faithful believer is always anxious concerning two things: for his past sins and how God will treat him for these sins; and for his remaining life and the uncertainty about how he will spend it. [1]

A Muslim who possesses these two feelings will always think about compensation for past negligence, as well as finding the best possible way for using future opportunities and as a result on the Day of Judgment he will be well pleased with his lord and well pleasing can join righteous people in paradise, as God says in the holy Quran:

Whoever obeys God and the Messenger, they are with those whom Allah has blessed, including the prophets and the truthful, the martyrs and the righteous and excellent companions are they! [2]
