It is a glance at the history of Jannat al-Baqee's destruction which occurred On 21 April 1926 in Saudi Arabia.
On 21 April 1926 the mausoleums in al-Baqi were destroyed by King Ibn Saud. In the same year, he also demolished the tombs of holy persons at Mualla Cemetery in Mecca [1] where Muhammad's first wife Khadijah, his grandfather and other ancestors are buried. [2] This happened despite protests by the international Islamic community. [3]
Al-Baqi mausoleums are one of the most respected tombs among Muslims; because, many of the Prophet's relatives as well as his companions are buried there for whom all Muslims have deep respect. Due to this fact, now days, on the 90th anniversary of the Saudi destruction of tombs of four of the twelve Imams buried Madinah’s Jannat al-Baqi cemetery, all Muslims especially Shias express their hatred towards committers of this crime and convey it to the people of the world.
It must be noticed that throughout the Islamic history some of the kings and caliphs ordered their people to destroy the tombs of Imams (A) in order to "put out the light of God with their mouths, but God perfect His light though the faithless should be averse" [4]
Despite the fact that the army of ignorance and deviation, armed with shovels and picks aggressively stormed the holy shrines of the four Imams (A) and other relatives of the Family of the Prophet (P), now days millions of the people follow the Imams (A) and love them whole heartedly across the globe.
