Abd al-'Azim al-Hasani, one of the great disciples and companions of the three infallible Imams (A), passed away on Shawwal 15, 252/November 2, 866 [1] due to his illness, as reported by Najashi. [2] On the occasion of his death we are going to have a brief look at his life, and his journey from Medina to Ray in Iran.

“Abd al-'Azim al-Hasani” was one of the outstanding progeny of the prophet Mohammad (P), and a companion of the three infallible Imams (A), from whom he narrated many hadiths, that is to say, he was a Shiite narrator as well. He was also a popular and trusted follower of the household of the prophet (P), known as Hassani, because he descents from his holiness Imam Hassan Mojtaba (A). [3]

Historically talking, He left the city of Medina, and went to Ray Due to the political and social problems. At that time, Abbasid caliphs especially the caliph Motawakil, made very critical conditions for the Ahl al-Bait (A), as well as their followers; because of it, Abd al-Azim Hasani traveled to Ray a neighboring city to Tehran. According to Najashi, "Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Khalid al-Barqi narrated the story as, 'Abd al-'Azim al-Hasani was escaping from the Sultan and came to Rey and stayed in the basement of a Shi'a in the neighborhood of Sikkat al-Mawali. [4]

Finally, it can be mentioned that now the holy shrine of Hazrat Abdul Azim Hasani along with the sacred tombs of Hazrat Imamzadeh Hamzeh ibn Imam Musa al-Kazim (A) and Imamzadeh Taher ibn Imam Ali ibn Husayn in Ray city is one of the most famous sacred places and tourist attractions in Iran. Millions of the lovers of the Holy Ahlul Bayt (A) from all parts of the world every year visit this holy shrine. [9]
