Quran
Translation of the Quran Verse:
May it not be that if you were to wield authority you would cause corruption in the land and ill-treat your blood relations?”[1]
Explanation of the verse:
One of the characteristics of hypocrites, i.e. Those who apparently profess faith but are in fact disbelievers, is that when they attain power, wealth, and position, they oppress God's servants (people) and commit great sins, such as cutting off the kinship and committing corruption in the land.
Amir al-Mumenin Ali (peace be upon him) said:
The owner of three traits will never die to see their plague: 1- Oppression.
2- Termination of the kinship.
3- swearing falsely to fight against God.[2]
