It is not known who protested and when this protest was raised. Ibn Abi al-Hadid says: The protester was Saad Bin Waqqas on the day of the Shura[1]. Then he says: But the Imamiyyah believe that the protester was Abu Ubaydah Jarrah, and he protested on the day of Saqifa.

He continues to say:

“O God, I complain to you about the cruelty of Quraysh and their accomplices. They cut my kinship and humiliated my great position and dignity. They decided to rise up against me regarding a matter that was my special right”.[2]

The result is that the Imam never reconciled with the caliphs on the issue of Caliphate and Imamate. He constantly spoke about his being oppressed and made the generations aware of the facts.[3]

The presence of Imam Ali (AS) in the six-people assembly - 1:

Doesn't the presence of Amirul Momineen Ali (peace be upon him) in the six-member assembly indicate the acceptance of the Shura system in Imamate and Caliphate?

Short answer:

The participation of Imam Ali (AS) in this council is not a sign of its approval. Rather, it could be a way to achieve justice. Despite the small possibility, it was appropriate for him to participate in this council. At the same time, this participation was to preserve at least the interests of Islam and Muslims as much as possible, reduce the gap and prevent corruption. In addition, what emerges from history is his urgency to participate in this council. Imam's speech in the sermon of “Shaqshaqiyah” is also a proof of this claim. [4]
