15:22 - 2024/01/18

The Prophet (PBUH) said to one of his Companions named Jabir Ibn Abdullah Ansari: "You will see a man from my family whose name is my name, his behavior and actions are my behavior and actions, and he penetrates knowledge to its depths."

...One of the Imam's activities in facing the dominant political rulers was to condemn the scholars for cooperating with them. And also the need to revive the true Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings of God be upon him) away from the suspicion of deliberate distortion by the caliphs and scholars affiliated with them. In a letter to Saad al-Khair, Imam Baqir (a.s.) complained a lot about bad scholars and said:

“Know the likes of the rabbis and monks who concealed the Scripture and distorted it, but their trade was not profitable, nor were they guided. Now there are people like them in this Ummah, those who memorize the words of the Quran and distort its boundaries. They are with nobles and leaders. When worldly leaders split, they are with those who are more worldly. Their understanding is the same”.[1]

In addition to condemning the scholars, Imam Baqir “peace be upon him) encouraged the people to protest and advise the rulers in various ways. It is stated in a narration of that Imam who said:

"Whoever goes to the cruel sultan and invites him to divine piety, preaches and scares him of the Day of Judgment, it will be like the reward of jinn and man".[2]

According to historical sources, Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) always faced the arrogance of the caliphs, with courage and used all opportunities to prove the legitimacy of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them)...
