Jesus Christ (PBUH) from the Perspective of the Qur'an - 3

13:26 - 2023/12/25

- According to the Qur'an, his creation was like that of Adam (pbuh) which is not strange thing. The Qur'an has introduced Jesus Christ as the son of Mary (PBUH) in several verses to answer the claimants of the divinity of Jesus (PBUH). Because how a person who is born from a mother could be the God?!

In Surah Yasin, verse 82, it is mentioned that the creation of creatures is not a problem for God: The content of this verse is repeated in several chapters of the Quran. For someone who has unlimited power, the division of tasks into difficult and easy will have no meaning for him, and for him the creation of a leaf or the creation of a forest is the same in thousands of kilometers wide, and the creation of a particle of soil is equal to the solar system.[1]

In Surah Mominun, verse 50, God has described the creation of Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) as one of the signs of God’s power and says: “and We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and sheltered them in a level highland with flowing water”.[2] The interpretation of "Ibn Maryam" (son of Mary) instead of "Jesus" is to pay attention to the fact that he was born only from his mother and without the intervention of a father at the command of God. This birth itself was one of the great signs of God's power. Since this birth was exceptional, it does not have the meaning that God has a relationship with Jesus (peace be upon him) or with his mother Mary (peace be upon her). He considers both of them as a sign. Because these two (the birth of a child without the intervention of the father and also the conception of the mother without contact with the man) were actually one reality with two different proportions.
