God's promise

God has promised to save young people from poverty through marriage. Is such a promise compatible with existing realities?!

The Qur'an says:

"Give unmarried men and women - whether they are free or slaves - as wives, so that if they are in need, Allah will enrich them out of His grace."[1] Now we see that many divorces, stray children, child labor, inappropriate housing, and even thefts and crimes originate from the economic problems of families, and in other words, we observe that the economic situation of a single person becomes even more difficult after his marriage. So how is this promise of God justified?

First of all, it should be said that our worldly life is full of problems and difficulties. and the divine tradition does not mean that all difficulties will be removed from the way in this space that is meant to test humans. But nevertheless, we see glad tidings for the situation to improve and solve some problems. For example, it is promised that if you help God in battles, God will also rush to help you.[2]

Of course, this does not mean that all the right-seekers will win an apparent victory in all battles, in which case the martyrdom of people like Imam Hussain (AS) would not be justified, but the purpose of these verses is general and relative glad tidings and also subject to compliance with all conditions.

And of course, it does not mean that, for example, God will ensure the prosperous life of married people until the end of their lives in any situation.

Rather, the Qur'an points to the fact that a boy and a girl each alone and if they remain unmarried must bear expenses to continue living, and if these two expenses that are done separately are merged together, Also, if motivations such as employment, contentment, ... increase, it is unlikely that the separate single life of two young people will be much more difficult than the life of the two under the same roof.

1- like the: well-cost wedding and proposal ceremony and its multi-stage preparations.

2- preparing and buying many luxury home appliances, all kinds of dishes and clothes, and cosmetics, which you can start living together also without many of them.

3- Insisting on having a house independent from previous families. (In the past, young couples started life with only one room in the house of one of the couple's family).

4- The fading away culture of contentment and thrift and the flourishing of the culture of luxury and dealing with unnecessary things in daily life, which are sometimes extravagance and wastage; Such as expensive parties and entertainment, constant preparation of food from outside the home, and…

In any case, it seems that if the mentioned matters and some other factors are observed, God's promise in the Qur'an will include most young couples and their married life will be more comfortable and peaceful than when they were single.

As we see many examples of this improvement in situations in society and there are not a few poor or low-income people who started their life together with hope in God and continue to be satisfied with their lives.

For this reason, God's good news should not be taken as meaning that every person will achieve all his dreams after marriage; Because human desires are endless.
