 Presidency Elections

Presidency Elections in Islamic Republic of Iran:

Paying attention to the sayings of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) in any situation is a source of awareness. It makes us choose the best path and avoid falling into the trap of ill-wishers. The election scene is one of the sensitive areas where accuracy in the traditions of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) can be our guide in the best way. One of the narrations that can be of great help during elections and choosing the right person, is the Hatith of Amirul Momineen Ali (peace be upon him) in the Battle of Safin. In this Hadith, the Imam (peace be upon him) enumerates three characteristics for a flagman:

Don't carry this flag except someone who has insight, patience and awareness of the right positions.[1]

If a person who is elected for the presidency of the country has these characteristics, he can be introduced as better than a person who does not have them. The president is not deceived or less deceived in his positions with insight. The insight acts as a shield against problems for him. Patience also prevents hasty decisions in national issues. Awareness and recognition of the truth is also an important category. It has a quality that is especially important in any position. Because management and decision-making along with the knowledge of the right and truth, protects a person from the slips that may occur due to ignorance.

As a result, accuracy in this Hadith of Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) helps us in choosing the right person. We can better distinguish who is worthy of the position of presidency.[2]
